Thoughts on The Naming of the Parts

I chose to blog about The Naming of the Parts because it is my favorite piece we have read thus far. I enjoy how the poem is written because it forces the reader to rethink what they have just read. Like we talked about in class, each time you read it something else becomes noticeable and in each stanza there is not a clear division of the two speakers so interpretation from the reader is welcomed.
I think this raises a good point about why it is written like this, since our professor said everything is deliberate. Perhaps this is meant to show the way war can turn into a day dream and a day dream can turn into war...when young men are faced with such a difficult position terrible things can happen to their mentality.
I think a strong argument made my the text is how difficult war is for soldiers. This is argued by the soldier not complaining about war or by depicting a gruesome scene, but by showing how desperate the soldier is to disassociate himself; he is in the middle of training to use weapons that may potentially save his life but he cannot bring himself to reality.
See you all on Thursday, bright and early!
