Cory's Thoughts on The Tragedy of Vietnam

Upon initially readin the book, the only real interest that had originally sparked my attention to the Vietnam war was that of which Mr. P had spoken about the subject over a year ago. Since the thought of how magnificent the subject could be had been kept away in the back of my mind. Since signing up for this course I had already began looking at things correlating to the Vietnam War such as the superhero Iron Man. The Tragedy of Vietnam opened up an entirely new world of some of the most complicated years in history that surprisingly enough have not occurred long ago at all. I think this aspect was the biggest punch to me as I read the book. Our fathers or people that we know have actually fought and died in this war. With that being said I really enjoyed reading about America's involvement in the war, more specifically because I was never really rooting for America during the book. For some reason I sided early with the Vietminh and Vietcong. They, to me, seemed like an organize firm body that ultimately knew what they were fighting for where as America and Southern Vietnam looked as everything through an economical stand point and were never really cohesive as a unit. I came away with a much firmer understanding of this war and it's participants and more specifically all of the deception and scandal that took place during this elongated time period used for personal gain.
